Ok, here's the 2nd nomination for The List 2009 - MercenaryPicturesVideo.com art director's top 10 box covers of the year.

Inspired by the tattoo trend of the last couple of years, the background was inspired by Sincerre Lemmore's skull & rose corset and edgy-girl alt type vibe. Line art, red & blue watercolor and lots of scribbling sets the scenario for what is probably one of the raciest titles IMO: Superwhores.

I think that for 2009 I'm going to make a top 10 list of my all time favorite Mercenary Pictures list. Kind of like People magazine's 50 most beautiful people kind of thing. This year, 2009 will be the beginning of The List. I haven't thought of the official name of The List yet, but stay tuned...I am sure something will materialize soon.

A top contender for The List is Lexington Steele Loves Naomi. Definitely one of my absolute favorite box covers, and I will tell you why...from the initial concept to the final outcome.

The inspiration for this entire look was that of a 1940's Femme Fatale Vamp meets modern fuck you face. With a sepia toned backdrop of the fabulous Naomi Banxxx within filmstrips to give it a vintage type look, to pushing her forward in full shining color, you get Naomi's incredible sex appeal delivered right before your eyes...mesmerizing even. Naomi Banxxx is larger than life in Lexington Loves Naomi, definitely popping right onto you lap

SuperWhores Meets WonderWoman

If you immediately feel zapped by the SuperWhores 11 cover featuring the ever lovely Loona Lux, then my mission has been accomplished. I was totally 100% inspired by the vintage Wonder Woman female super-hero genre with this cover. Thanks to director and photographer Tina Tyler for taking some really retro-inspired photos of Loona, who is gorgeous and extremely sexy in one gulp!

This box is probably on my top 5 list of the most fun to do - and the movie is definitely hot, hot, hot!

Culos Gigantes

I have so much to say about all of the project box covers that I do for Lexington Steele’s Mercenary Pictures, so for my first official Artist Corner blog, I will start with talking a bit about one of my more challenging projects: Culos Gigantes

I don’t think that anyone realizes from a layout perspective how DIFFICULT it is to strategically place an abundance of big asses in a functional perspective AND looks super sexy. When I see a Culos Gigantes volume on the release schedule, I have to automatically add an additional day to the production because I have to first get approval on the selected photos from Lex, and then I have to figure out how to fit them all on the box. It’s kind of like a jigsaw puzzle with no edges and cheater marks, because all of the girls are hot, all of the asses are huge, and they all have to fit on the box.

From a creative standpoint, it’s hard to not look at the asses, and instead look at the shape of the images. With Culos Gigantes, I have to visualize the models as triangles, and fit them on the box, while still leaving room for the title, the cast list and any additional other copy that goes on the cover. After all of that is done, then the magic begins! I hope that you now treasure every single Culos Gigantes cover with appreciation of how much creative work was placed in the delivery of every single volume of Culos Gigante. As a matter of fact, you can put it up on display just to share the love LOL!.
